My art expresses a lifelong fascination with the challenge and psychological accessibility of figurative representation. The pieces consist of precisely-rendered elements placed in abstracted or obviously staged surroundings. I work directly from models whenever possible, often depicting my own left hand in recent artwork. I used my childhood fan photos for my retro pop pieces. This series depicts celebrities who held special significance in my life, although they never quite achieved universal “icon” status. For the "Fate" series, they’re depicted at their career apex, with the various elements providing clues to their impending early demise.

I utilize the traditional technique of layering and glazing, very carefully blending and gradating my oils with various sizes and textures of brushes. My intention is that my pieces will hold up to close scrutiny, as well as from a distance.
